A NIGHT OF FUN AND FUNDRASING

The Friday night kicked off with an ecstatic atmosphere created by Moore Student Radio Station Manager, Jack Bostock. Guests began arriving at 19:00 and were settled by 19:30, filling the room with anticipation for the quiz. At 20:00, the lovely hosts Darcy and Amilia took the stage to get things started. There were two prizes up for grabs: an XL bag of marshmallows for the team with the best name and a £30 voucher for The Fly. The excitement was palpable—trust between teams was nonexistent, which is exactly what makes a great quiz! There were four categories: a picture round dedicated to honorary moustaches, general knowledge, Movember history, and music. It was long, frustrating, and—most importantly—entertaining.

Once the quiz finished, the tension eased and trust was restored. Naturally, dancing on benches began during the answer reveal. Cheers and groans filled the room as everyone hoped to win those prizes—but in the end, it came down to two lucky teams. “Heaven Knows I’m Quizzable Now” won for best team name, and another team (whose name we probably shouldn’t mention!) scored an impressive 47/50 points.

After the pub quiz, Rayhan went around and collected our pence’s for raffle entries. Prizes ranged from a XL Pasta bag to £30 voucher to The Brookhouse. Tension rose once again, but this time it was all down to luck. With karaoke and more dancing on benches,  everyone was thrilled to be together for such an amazing cause.

Next up was bingo, hosted by Tiffany and Jossoline (or so we thought!). Heads were down, wigs were flying, and yes—more dancing on benches. It was a long and frustrating game, and that was just for a single line! Thanks to the hosts’ commentary, we remembered it was just a game—until number 87 was called and “Bingo!” was shouted. Not once, not twice, but five times! How could we declare a fair winner for the XL pot noodle bundle? The only way: a dance-off. Everyone danced like their life depended on it, but Charlotte ultimately came out on top.

The next round for full house was no different, except the stakes were higher with a £30 voucher to The Flute. People were locked in, hoping to avoid another dance battle and win on luck alone. Luckily for the audience, that didn’t happen! Four people battled it out, and it was absolutely bonkers. After a tough fight, Tom emerged victorious.

With the bingo coming to an end people were egure to know what was next. That was until Jackeline and Jossolne reviled to us that they had been lying to us this entire time. We had thought we were graced with the presents of the lovely duo when in actuality it was Tom and Josh! The crowd was disappointed until we heard it was time for them to do their member pledgees.

Thanks to everyone’s generous donations, Moore Student Radio reached all its milestones—which meant it was time for the team to suffer!

The first milestone that was accomplished was for Tom to wax his leg, but due to everyone’s contribution people got to wax more than just his legs! In solidarity Josh also got waxed- and in my opinion had it worse. To spare you gruesome, yet awesome details, screams were had, singing through the pain, LOTS of hairs were pulled, and plenty of uneven patches.

After a long and painful 30 minutes to wrap up the night, Rayhan blessed us with some karaoke. Unfortunately for him, that was his milestone—and fortunately for us, we had surpassed it!

On the behalf of the Moore Student Radio, I want to thank every single person that has supported and donated to the cause. As a team, Moore Student Radio had raised £3,200 this month! All of that money will be donated to amazing charities that work to destigmatize the discussion around men’s mental and physical health.
