Local band Keyside sold out the O2 Academy on Friday night (21st November) to 1,200 people on their UK tour.

With support from The Cases, from Preston, and The Kowloons, from Merseyside, the night was one to remember filled with joy and music. After taking influence from bands such as The Smiths and The La’s, Keyside play pristine jangle-pop of a powerful substance, and their lyrics convey a social conscience that goes deeper than their uplifting melodies.

Front man Dani-Lee Parker, vocalist and acoustic guitarist, is known for his catchy rifts and well written melodies that are easy for audiences to sing along. A crowd pleaser for me would be Paris to Marseille or Michael (What’s Your Call?), which filled the venue full of loud voices and happy memories the band might never forget. The band played at total of their full 12-song discography plus a Sally Cinnamon introduction to closer Angeline, dedicated to The Stones Roses’ late bass player, Gary ‘Mani’ Mounfield.

This is a group that felt at home with the crowed and were happy to be back on home turf, Liverpool will always remain in their roots. Only seven shows remain on their UK tour, but they will be back in 2026 during festival season with lineup’s slowly being realised over the next few weeks. Confirmed so far, Keyside will be playing Neighbourhood Weekender in Warrington and Tramlines in Sheffield.

It has already been one amazing year for the Merseyside band with their EP Michael (What’s Your Call?) and two singles, If You Don’t Try and Rock My Love, will we see a debut album from the up-and-coming band.
